Korail to Hire 1,100 New Employees in First Half of Year... "Applications Open This Month"
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 7th that it will hire 1,100 new employees in the first half of this year.
The recruitment process is divided into 1,057 new hires and 43 professionals/career positions. Among these, new hires will be separately recruited by dividing the country into six regions: the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon region, Chungcheong region, Honam region, Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, and Busan-Gyeongnam region. The number of recruits by type is 817 for open competition, and 240 for restricted competition, including 20 certificate holders, 130 employment support targets (veterans), and 90 persons with disabilities.
The number of recruits by job category is 375 for office and sales, 74 for driving, 220 for vehicles, 154 for civil engineering, 34 for architecture, and 200 for electrical and telecommunications.
The hiring process involves document screening, written exams, practical tests, and interviews. Successful candidates will undergo a five-week internship program, and after a separate evaluation, they will be finally appointed as regular employees.
The fields for professional and career staff recruitment include digital twin, artificial intelligence, citizen safety, fire safety experts, certified public accountants, tax accountants, and certified labor consultants.
Applications for new employee recruitment will be accepted online through the KORAIL website from 2 PM on the 18th to 2 PM on the 20th of this month.

Meanwhile, KORAIL has announced in advance that there will be some changes starting from the recruitment process in the second half of this year, including the addition of document screening, changes in the scope of the written exam, and the introduction of physical fitness verification. These changes can be confirmed through the ‘Pre-Notice of Recruitment System Improvement’ posted on the recruitment announcement board on the KORAIL website and in the recruitment announcement.
