Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kwon Oh-seong) apprehended vessel A (9.77t, coastal complex fishery, registered in Sinan) on charges of violating the Fishing Management and Promotion Act.
According to Mokpo Maritime Police on the 6th, vessel A is suspected of disguising about 20 anglers as crew members and illegally operating fishing activities outside territorial waters near Jinri Port dock, Imja-myeon, Sinan-gun at 2:51 a.m. on the 4th.

The operating area for fishing vessels is limited to territorial waters according to Article 27 of the same law. They exploited the loophole by falsely registering anglers as crew members, allowing the vessel to fish outside territorial waters after departure.
Mokpo Maritime Police began an investigation after noticing that the crew members changed every time the vessel departed, uncovering the above facts.
