[Yang Nak-gyu's Defence photo] Elite Marine Corps Joint Training
Our Navy and Marine Corps personnel have been participating in the multinational joint exercise, the "2024 Cobra Gold" training, held in Thailand from February 26 to March 8, to enhance their capabilities in multinational peace operations.
This exercise was composed primarily of outdoor maneuver training such as combined amphibious landing exercises, command post exercises, reconnaissance training, and combined arms live-fire drills conducted across 11 locations including Sattahip and Hat Yao in Thailand. The personnel also conducted command post exercises, humanitarian civil activities, and cyber defense training.
In particular, from March 1 to 8, a combined reconnaissance training was held where elite reconnaissance units from Korea, the United States, and Thailand gathered to exchange combat skills. The training involved about 40 personnel from the Republic of Korea Marine Corps Reconnaissance Company, the U.S. Marine Corps Recon Marines, and the Royal Thai Marine Corps reconnaissance units.
The combined reconnaissance training began with terrain reconnaissance, followed by maneuver firing, underwater infiltration training, and jungle survival training. Through this, the reconnaissance units from Korea, the U.S., and Thailand were able to enhance their operational capabilities in various operational environments such as jungles and underwater.
