Gyeonggi Office of Education's Public Service Discipline 'Serious'... Promoting Activation of Anonymous Reporting System
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is actively taking measures to prevent laxity in public service discipline following the recent series of public office corruption cases.
On the 6th, the Office announced that based on reports received through the anonymous public service corruption reporting system, it has uncovered multiple instances of misconduct by public officials. Moving forward, it plans to conduct continuous inspections of blind spots in public service discipline and activate the internal reporting system to actively promote the establishment of public service discipline.
Previously, the Office uncovered that an elementary school teacher in the province illegally operated a real estate auction academy during parental leave, and a clerk belonging to an education support office fraudulently received overtime pay more than 50 times by approving overtime work orders, leaving the workplace for extended periods, and then returning to the office to record fingerprints.
Additionally, on February 6-7, a special duty inspection was conducted targeting education regional offices during the Lunar New Year holiday to demand improvements in areas vulnerable to duty management and deficiencies.
Jung Jin-min, Auditor of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "To realize trusted Gyeonggi education and establish public service discipline, we plan to strengthen continuous inspections to ensure no blind spots in management occur. We will proactively and preventively promote the establishment of public service discipline by utilizing the anonymous public service corruption reporting system."

Meanwhile, the Office plans to strengthen its own inspections to ensure public officials comply with their political neutrality obligations ahead of the National Assembly elections scheduled for April.
