Gyeonggi Office of Education to Fully Operate 'Neulbom School' for First Grade Elementary Students Starting April 4
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has launched the 'Neulbom School' program at 975 schools across the province with the start of the new semester.
According to the academic calendar, the Office of Education announced that 22% of all elementary schools will begin the Neulbom School program, a customized program for first graders, starting from the 4th. Additionally, more than 90% of all elementary schools will operate Neulbom School from the 5th.
The Office expects that 57,716 first-grade students from elementary schools across the province will participate in the Neulbom School program, which is free and runs for 2 hours a day (a total of about 6,000 sessions).
The Office of Education will also operate after-school care linked to Neulbom School (gap care) and optional after-school programs.
The Office has hired 95% of the temporary contract teachers outside the regular quota to manage Neulbom School. For schools where hiring is not yet complete, the regional education office’s Neulbom Support Center will provide active assistance.

Kim Insuk, the regional education officer at the Office of Education, stated, "We will do our best to operate the optimal Neulbom School that does not burden school education."
