Former Pohang Deputy Mayor Kim Nam-il Appointed as President of Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation
"I Will Open the Path for Culture and Tourism for the Next 50 Years"
On the 29th, Gyeongbuk Province appointed Kim Nam-il (57), former Deputy Mayor of Pohang City, as the new president of the Gyeongbuk Cultural Tourism Corporation. His term will last for three years, until February 27, 2027.
After two rounds of public recruitment from December last year to January this year, Gyeongbuk Province selected former Deputy Mayor Kim as the final candidate.
The Gyeongbuk Provincial Council held a personnel hearing committee on the 22nd and adopted the personnel hearing report. President Kim was evaluated as the right person to lead the significant task of creating new cultural tourism value for the future of Gyeongbuk Province, having accumulated over 30 years of diverse public service experience in central government and Gyeongsangbuk-do in areas such as culture, tourism, sports, environment, marine and forestry, economy, trade, and investment attraction.
President Kim Nam-il said, “Based on my public service experience, know-how, and personal network, I will lead the corporation by fully listening to and communicating with employees under the banner of open management and integrity management.”
He added, “In preparation for the 50th anniversary of the corporation in 2025, I will actively work to establish a new cultural tourism strategy that connects Gyeongbuk’s humanistic landscapes (Inmun Sansu) to open a new 50 years of future cultural tourism in Gyeongbuk.”
