KB Kookmin, Webtoon Artist 'Kikni' Releases Webtoon to Prevent Jeonse Fraud Victims
Produced based on real victim stories as part of the 'KB Jeonse Safety Program'
Spreading awareness of Jeonse fraud related to multi-family housing
On the 28th, KB Kookmin Bank released the first webtoon of the 'Jeonse Fraud Prevention Campaign,' which is being conducted in collaboration with webtoon artist Kiki, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation.
This webtoon was created based on actual victim stories submitted to Kiki's Instagram account and depicts cases of multi-family housing Jeonse fraud, which frequently occurs among younger generations such as university students.
A multi-family house refers to a single-family house built to accommodate multiple households, with up to 19 households, where individual housing registrations for each household are not established. There is a blind spot in that it is difficult to verify information about prior tenant deposits through the real estate registration certificate alone, making it particularly vulnerable to Jeonse fraud. The story submitter experienced damage in 2013 as a university student when moving into a multi-family house as the 19th tenant and was unable to recover the deposit.
The webtoon, drawn in the touching and warm tone unique to popular artist Kiki, was uploaded on both Kiki's and KB Kookmin Bank's official Instagram accounts. Within about four hours of its release, it surpassed 250,000 views, with over 16,000 people liking and commenting, showing empathy with the webtoon's content.
A KB Kookmin Bank official stated, "The next webtoon to be released will showcase Jeonse fraud types that require special caution, so we ask for your great interest," and added, "We will do our best to contribute to preventing ongoing Jeonse fraud damage."
