Gwangyang Maehwa Village in Jeonnam, which creates the most beautiful spring scenery in the world, has been selected as one of the six spring flower travel destinations by the digital travel platform Agoda.
Agoda described Gwangyang Maehwa Village, also known as Seomjin Village, as “a spectacular sight where white maehwa (plum blossoms) bloom all over the village like snow every early spring.”
It added, “The 23rd Gwangyang Maehwa Festival will be held for ten days from March 8 to 17 this year,” and introduced that “besides flower viewing, visitors can enjoy various attractions such as photo zones, local restaurants, and direct transaction markets.”
Furthermore, it guided that “although there is an admission fee, it can be refunded as festival vouchers, which can be used at official booths within the festival.”
Gwangyang Maehwa Village was also selected in 2019 as one of the “23 Asian places to see stunning spring scenery” announced by MSN, a portal site operated by Microsoft.
Kim Seongsu, head of the Tourism Division, said, “Gwangyang Maehwa Village, where fragrant maehwa decorate the Seomjin Riverbank creating a fantastic flower palace, stands shoulder to shoulder with Tokyo’s Hanegi Park and excites the hearts of people worldwide beyond Korea as a famous flower spot.”
He added, “The 23rd Gwangyang Maehwa Festival, set against the backdrop of this beautiful flower palace, is making every effort to provide unforgettable emotions and memories with unique and differentiated festival content.”
