The year 2024 is a year with multiple elections worldwide, including in South Korea. IT companies in various countries are striving to prevent the use of artificial intelligence (AI) that misleads voters. In South Korea as well, companies voluntarily formed a consultative body and held discussions in line with global trends.

The participating companies are discussing details to advance their shared goal of delivering truthful information during the election process through joint responses amid the increasing importance of information.

The agreement targets maliciously created or edited deepfake content (video, audio, images, hereinafter referred to as malicious election deepfakes) intended to influence elections. Efforts to mitigate risks related to malicious election deepfakes, inter-company discussions to prevent the spread of malicious election deepfakes, and continuous discussions with external expert groups will be prepared as response measures and announced as soon as possible.
