Installation of Fire Extinguisher Signs to Ensure Rapid Fire Response at 15 Building-Type Public Parking Lots
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that it plans to complete the installation of color guide lines at entrances and exits, as well as fire extinguisher signs, by March to prevent safety accidents in public parking lots.
At 21 public parking lots, color guide lines (paint width 40~50cm, seagull markings at 45°) will be installed to help drivers easily identify entrances and exits, which are often confusing. Entrances will be marked with pink color guide lines, and exits with light green, enhancing visibility. Directional guidance and pedestrian caution phrases will also be displayed to help pedestrians move safely.
Fire extinguisher signs will be attached at 15 building-type public parking lots. Most fire extinguishers in parking lots are installed on the lower side of one face of a pillar, making them hard to find from the opposite side of the pillar or when blocked by parked vehicles, creating visual obstacles.
To address this issue, fire extinguisher signs will be attached on all four sides or walls at a height of 150~160cm above the pillar where the extinguisher is installed. Made with fluorescent colors, these signs will improve visibility so that fire extinguishers can be easily located at any position even at night.
In particular, this will greatly aid in quickly identifying the location of fire extinguishers during a fire, helping with early suppression.

District Mayor Jung Won-oh stated, “The installation of color guide lines and fire extinguisher signs will play an important role in ensuring residents’ safety,” and added, “We will continue to strive to improve the public parking lot environment so that residents can use it with peace of mind.”
