'Japan Seafood Ban' by China... "A Justified and Necessary Action"
China Maintains Ban on Japanese Seafood Imports
China has stated that its related measures are justified amid its complete ban on imports of Japanese seafood due to the discharge of contaminated water from Japan's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing on the 23rd, "It is justifiable, reasonable, and necessary for countries including China to take preventive and responsive measures to protect food safety and public health regarding the discharge of nuclear contaminated water from Fukushima." He added, "Japan must handle the nuclear contaminated water responsibly."
