Park Won-seok "New Future, Reform New Party All Conceded... Never Claimed Leadership"
"New Future, Relinquishes Both Party Positions and Representative Authority"
Park Won-seok, the responsible committee member of Saeroun Mirae, stated regarding the split of the Reform New Party, "(Saeroun Mirae) has never claimed any vested rights or leadership."
On the 21st, Park appeared on KBS Radio's 'Jeon Jong-cheol's Jeonggyeok Sisa' and said, "Saeroun Mirae has relinquished almost all vested rights, including party positions and any practical representative authority, yielding them to Representative Lee Jun-seok and the Reform New Party," adding, "It is regrettable to have reached this outcome."
Park mentioned that there was a significant difference in stance between Lee Jun-seok, the Reform New Party leader, and Lee Nak-yeon, the Saeroun Mirae leader, over the full delegation of election authority and the issue of former Justice Party Vice Representative Bae Bok-joo. He said, "(Lee Jun-seok's side) requested full authority over the election and also asked for a declaration that Bae Bok-joo was not acceptable," adding, "But how can a democratic party declare that a specific person is not acceptable? It is Lee Jun-seok's personal freedom to make such a declaration, so that is possible, but asking Lee Nak-yeon to do the same is an unreasonable demand."

Park also said that Lee Jun-seok's demand for full election authority violated the integration agreement. He said, "The integration agreement is a promise that must be kept under any circumstances," and added, "With Lee Nak-yeon's understanding, since Lee Jun-seok is doing well, he can handle the election campaign, publicity, and election policy announcements, but that should be preceded by close discussions and mutual understanding and political coordination, not something that can be pushed through by the Supreme Council."
Regarding the suggestion that the deepening consideration of Lee Nak-yeon's candidacy caused conflict, he said, "It is difficult to see this as the cause of conflict or a crack."
Park said, "Lee Nak-yeon mentioned that while holding the Supreme Council in Gwangju, he was contemplating whether to run, and if he does, Gwangju would be his first choice," adding, "A politician's decision to run, especially in a specific region, is a very existential decision. That should be left to him, and someone with Lee Nak-yeon's political stature must be cautious."
