The Reform New Party once again apologized on the 21st for the breakdown of the merger with New Future, led by co-representative Lee Nak-yeon.
Lee Jun-seok, leader of the Reform New Party, said at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, "The Reform New Party feels regretful that members of New Future have withdrawn from the unified front," adding, "We will always be waiting for them to rejoin the Reform New Party in the spirit of unity."
Supreme Council member Cho Eung-cheon bowed his head and said, "The image the Reform New Party showed after the announcement of the third-way integration was nothing but disappointing," and apologized to the public.
Council member Cho added, "The Reform New Party was stuck only in party organization without taking a single step toward the general election," and said, "Now we must move forward."
Supreme Council member Geum Tae-seop also said, "We feel sorry to the public for the cancellation of the merger. Before pointing fingers, we were all lacking," and added, "We will reflect until today and from tomorrow, we will show a renewed Reform New Party."
