The world's first 'insect-specialized' restaurant is set to open in London, UK. The restaurant will create modern European-style dishes, but all the meat used will be insect meat.
London-based media outlet 'London Love Business' reported that the insect-specialized restaurant 'Yum bug' is scheduled to officially open later this month. Yum bug's first location has a total of 30 tables, and all the meat used in the dishes is insects, specifically beetles.
It looks like an ordinary rag? pasta, but it is actually a meat alternative pasta made with minced insects.

Yum bug is a UK alternative meat startup that has been trial-selling insect meat since last year. At that time, they held events in various parts of London in the form of 'pop-up stores.' Even then, Yum bug's insect meat reportedly caused a significant stir. It was prominently featured in well-known local broadcasts and media such as 'Good Morning Britain' and 'The Guardian.'
Since then, Yum bug has completed all preparations and is ready to open its 'official restaurant.' Co-founder and CEO Leo Taylor told the media, "The response we received from customers last year was very encouraging," emphasizing, "Seeing chefs enthusiastic about insects and guests on waiting lists to secure tables shows there is definite demand for alternative meat."
He added, "This year, we will prove to people that insects are actually delicious, sustainable meat, and an underrated superfood." It is reported that all seats for Yum bug's first week were sold out within one hour of opening reservations.

Meanwhile, Yum bug uses beetles as the raw material for its alternative meat. They explain that beetles "emit 15 times less carbon dioxide than beef to produce 1 kg" and that "69% of insect meat is protein, making it healthy." The insects supplied to Yum bug are raised on farms in Cambridgeshire, eastern England.
