Appealed First Trial... "Crime Fact Confirmed"
An octogenarian resident who sexually harassed a cleaning worker inside an apartment elevator was sentenced to a fine again in the appellate court.
On the 20th, the 1-3 Criminal Appeals Division of Ulsan District Court (Chief Judge Lee Bong-su) announced that it dismissed the appeal of resident A, who was tried on charges of forcible sexual assault. Earlier, A was indicted for touching parts of the body of female cleaning worker B, who was cleaning a wall mirror inside an elevator of an apartment in Ulsan in the afternoon of April 2022.
At that time, B was standing on a chair cleaning the mirror. Seeing this, A approached B from behind and touched her body, and B pushed A's hand away. During the scuffle, when the elevator arrived at the first floor, A exited the elevator, and B informed a female resident boarding the elevator about the incident.
Furthermore, when the police investigation began, A filed a complaint with the apartment management office, claiming that the cleaning was unsatisfactory and demanded the replacement of the cleaning worker. During the trial, A also claimed that he was only encouraging B and patting her shoulder.

However, the first trial court regarded the footage of A sexually harassing B captured by the closed-circuit television (CCTV) inside the elevator as direct evidence of sexual harassment and sentenced him to a fine of 6 million won. Additionally, he was ordered to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program. A immediately appealed, but the appellate court dismissed the appeal, stating that the facts of the crime were sufficiently proven.
