Seoul Arts Center's First Matinee Concert of the Year on the 23rd... Shinbak Duo Collaboration
'Classics with Heart' Concert with KT
Schubert, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Holst
The Seoul Arts Center announced on the 14th that it will present the "Classics with Heart" concert, part of the Seoul Arts Center Matinee Concert series in collaboration with KT, at the Concert Hall at 11 a.m. on the 23rd.
Jang Yunsung will conduct the KT Symphony Orchestra, with the ShinPark Duo, consisting of pianists Shin Mijeong and Park Sanguk, performing as soloists.
The first piece to be performed is Schubert's "Overture in the Italian Style," which exudes a strong Italian atmosphere. Composed around the 20th century, this bright and lively piece strongly expresses the feel of dance and march music.
Next, the ShinPark Duo will perform Mendelssohn's "Concerto for Two Pianos." The ShinPark Duo won second place at the 2015 German ARD International Competition, first place at the 2016 Monte Carlo International Competition, and the top prize at the Monaco International Piano Duo Competition. In 2017, they won the Schubert Piano Duo Competition along with the special award for best interpretation.
In the second part, they will perform the second movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 "Path?tique," and four movements from the suite "The Planets" by British composer Holst: 1. Mars (The Bringer of War), 2. Venus (The Bringer of Peace), 3. Mercury (The Winged Messenger), and 4. Jupiter (The Bringer of Jollity). "Path?tique" is Tchaikovsky's final and posthumous symphony, notable for its elegant and warm melodies that delve into the depths of human emotion.
Kim Yongbae, professor emeritus at Chugye University for the Arts, will provide easy and engaging commentary on the pieces during the "Classics with Heart" concert.
This year's "Classics with Heart" concert series will be held 11 times, starting with the performance on the 23rd. At the end of the second part of each concert, a lucky draw event will select three audience members to receive special gifts.
