President Yoon Presents Samjeong Sword to 75 Newly Promoted and Designated Generals
Emphasizes Unity and Responsibility in National Defense
On February 7, President Yoon Suk Yeol urged brigadier generals-designate from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps to "reflect on the meaning of the Samjeong Sword and work together as one, with an even greater sense of responsibility, to defend the nation."
According to the Office of the President, President Yoon personally presented the Samjeong Sword to 75 newly promoted and soon-to-be-promoted brigadier generals from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps at the Blue House State Guest House on February 7. He congratulated the generals for their dedication to national defense and delivered these remarks.

The Samjeong Sword symbolizes national defense, unification, and prosperity. The front of the blade is engraved with President Yoon's handwritten signature and the phrase "If you are determined to die, you will live; if you are determined to live, you will die" by Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
The reverse side bears the eight-character incantation of the Sain Sword: Geon Gangjeong, Gon Wonryeong, Il Wolsang, Gang Danhyeong, Hwi Roijeon, Un Hyeonja, Chu Sanak, Hyeon Chamjeong (乾降精 坤援靈 日月象 岡?形 ?雷電, 運玄坐 推山惡 玄斬貞).
The reception proceeded in the following order: remarks from the promoted generals, viewing of a congratulatory video, and remarks from their spouses.
The event was attended by Kim Sun Ho, Vice Minister of National Defense; Kim Myung Soo, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Park An Soo, Chief of Staff of the Army; Lee Young Soo, Chief of Staff of the Air Force; Kang Dong Gil, Vice Chief of Naval Operations; and Kim Gye Hwan, Commandant of the Marine Corps.
