BPA Hope Pantry for Lunar New Year, Warm Donation Hands Continue
Bread Made from Donated Ingredients, Sharing Again for Neighbors
Residents and Companies Donate Ingredients Worth 200,000 to 5 Million Won
Warm gestures of donation continue at the sharing refrigerator ‘BPA Hope Pantry’ installed by Busan Port Authority (BPA) ahead of the holidays.
Nam-gu Disabled Welfare Center, which made bread using cheese and milk donated from Seoul Milk Cheese Gangseo-gu and Buk-gu Customer Centers, and re-donated it to the Hope Pantry.
View original imageIn January, Seoul Milk Cheese Gangseo-gu and Buk-gu Customer Centers, local companies, donated dairy products worth approximately 5 million KRW, including cheese and butter, to BPA Hope Pantry Store No. 15 (Sasang-gu Youth Center) and Nam-gu Disabled Welfare Center.
At Nam-gu Disabled Welfare Center, the donated cheese was used by people with disabilities to make bread themselves, and 150 pieces of bread were delivered to BPA Hope Pantry Store No. 13, Nam-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, continuing the warm sharing between local residents and companies through BPA Hope Pantry.
Hyundai Construction also sponsored rice cakes worth 300,000 KRW for tteokguk (rice cake soup) at BPA Hope Pantry Store No. 12 for the Lunar New Year. A local resident also donated food ingredients worth 200,000 KRW to BPA Hope Pantry Store No. 3.
To celebrate the Lunar New Year, BPA donated 1 million KRW worth of Onnuri gift certificates to BPA Hope Pantry on the 2nd for vulnerable groups near the port area.
The 16 BPA Hope Pantry locations plan to use the Onnuri gift certificates supported by BPA to prepare holiday gift packages and deliver them to neighbors in need.
Kang Joon-seok, President of BPA, said, “As of the end of 2023, food ingredients and other items donated by companies and local residents to BPA Hope Pantry totaled about 100 million KRW, reaching over 6,000 vulnerable people and establishing itself as a space for sharing in the local community. We will continue to collaborate with various organizations near the port to maintain a spirit of continuous sharing.”
