The Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation (President Moon Young-pyo) held a sharing event for the Lunar New Year 2024 to support vulnerable groups in the nearby area, in collaboration with Gangseo Agricultural Products Wholesale Market’s Gangseo Cheonggwa, Nonghyup Gangseo, Seobu Cheonggwa, the Market Wholesalers Association, and the Suhyup Gangseo Branch.
The corporation and agro-fishery distributors donated fruits and food ingredients worth approximately 26 million KRW to underprivileged groups and social welfare facilities within Gangseo-gu. The fruits included a total of 630 boxes: 150 boxes of apples, 140 boxes of pears, and 340 boxes of Hallabong citrus, while the food ingredients consisted of 240 boxes including rice, ramen, ham sets, and gim (seaweed).
Among the donated items, 670 boxes?including 520 boxes of fruit and 150 boxes of gim?were delivered to low-income families and social welfare facilities in Gangseo-gu on the 6th from 10 a.m. at the picking area in front of the 2nd Eco-friendly Distribution Center, in cooperation with the Welfare Policy Division of Gangseo-gu Office.
The remaining 200 boxes of fruits and food ingredients were personally delivered by corporation employees to five social welfare facilities, including homes for children-headed households (5 children), the single mother facility Ma-eumjari, and the facility for the disabled Shalom House, as well as to three senior citizen rest centers near the market (Sumyeongsan Complexes 3, 4, and 14).
The corporation has been supporting Jion Childcare Center since last Lunar New Year and plans to additionally support H2 Ville, a residential facility for people with severe disabilities located in Gangseo-gu, this year.
This sharing event has been continuously held since the market’s opening in 2004. Similar to last year’s Chuseok holiday, the corporation, agricultural market distributors, and the Suhyup Central Association Gangseo Branch jointly practice sharing, making this event a representative sharing occasion of the Gangseo Agro-Fisheries Wholesale Market and contributing to the fulfillment of social responsibility by a public enterprise.
