"I will definitely find solutions to the issues" ... Imangyu, Daegu City Council Chairman, transforms into a taxi driver for a day
Chairman Lee Mankyu of the Daegu Metropolitan Council operated a Daeguro Taxi belonging to Daesung Transportation on the 6th, driving throughout the entire city of Daegu while listening to citizens' sincere stories about Daegu city administration and promoting the 'Daeguro Taxi' to passengers.
Chairman Lee drove the Daeguro Taxi for the third time, following two runs last year. Before driving, he held a meeting with Daesung Transportation officials to hear about the difficulties faced by the taxi industry, completed training on precautions related to driving, and then set off.
Iman-gyu, Chairman of the Daegu City Council, is working as a one-day taxi driver to listen to the grievances of Daegu citizens.
View original imageOn that day, Chairman Lee personally accepted Daeguro Taxi calls and experienced firsthand the hardships of the taxi industry. He also set aside his chairman role to listen to vivid and sincere life stories from citizens and provided accurate and detailed explanations about Daegu city administration regarding citizens' inquiries.
During lunchtime, Chairman Lee visited a taxi rest area to meet with drivers and had an open and frank discussion about the difficulties of taxi operations.
Lee Mankyu, Chairman of the Daegu Metropolitan Council, said, “Last year, after hearing from drivers about the inconvenience of using public restrooms during taxi operations, we promoted a comprehensive maintenance of public restrooms. The issues raised by passengers today regarding Daegu city administration will be discussed with the city to find solutions as soon as possible.”
After completing the operation, all income earned from driving the commercial taxi will be donated in full through organizations such as the Community Chest of Korea.
Chairman Lee plans to continue creating opportunities for direct communication with citizens on-site through visits to public livelihood areas and to discover policies that are truly necessary for the citizens.

Since the launch of the Daeguro Taxi service in December 2022, 82% of the total 13,536 taxis operating in Daegu have joined, with an average of about 7,500 calls per day.
