Nearly 80,000 Subscribers Soon for Dongdaemun-gu Illegal Parking Enforcement SMS Alert Service
CCTV Illegal Parking Vehicle Enforcement Sends Warning Texts to Drivers Before Action, Alert Service Gains Popularity
Following Last Year's Whistle Service Launch, Dedicated Text Alert Service Consultation Desk to Open This Year
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) announced on the 6th that the number of subscribers to the 'Illegal Parking Enforcement Text Alert Service' is approaching 80,000.
The 'Illegal Parking Enforcement Text Alert Service' sends a warning text message to drivers before CCTV enforces illegal parking. The service started in 2010, and as of February 5, a total of 79,623 people have subscribed.
The text alert service sends warning messages not only for fixed CCTV but also for mobile CCTV installed on vehicles. Since illegal parking enforcement using CCTV is fully automated, it is impossible to provide guidance. The text alert service compensates for this by allowing drivers who receive a warning text before CCTV enforcement to voluntarily move their vehicles.
The number of subscribers has steadily increased by about 5,000 annually since 2010. Since last year, the district has also implemented the 'Whistle' service, which allows subscribers of the Dongdaemun-gu text alert service to receive warning texts before CCTV enforcement throughout Seoul.
The district plans to open a dedicated consultation desk for the text alert service this year so that citizens who experience inconvenience due to malfunctions of the text alert service can receive more accurate guidance. Once the consultation desk is opened, citizens will be able to contact the number provided in the alert message and receive technical consultation from specialized counselors.
The service can be subscribed to by searching for 'Parking Enforcement Text Alert' in the Dongdaemun-gu website search bar or by accessing the parking enforcement alert site. For more details, contact the 'Whistle' customer center or the Dongdaemun-gu Parking Administration Division.
