Gyeonggi Province opened an on-site counseling center at the large conference room on the 2nd floor of the Seonbu 3-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Danwon-gu, Ansan City, hosted by the Gyeonggi Jeonse Damage Support Center, providing individual coping measures and support policies to about 100 Jeonse victims.
Gyeonggi Province also assigned lawyers and judicial scriveners to the counseling center to provide free legal consultations. Earlier, on the 30th of last month, 76 residents of the A urban-type housing in Danwon-gu, Ansan City, filed a fraud complaint against the landlord couple Mr. and Mrs. B, and the police are currently investigating.
The A urban-type housing consists of 147 units of studio and two-room apartments ranging from 23 to 59 square meters, all of which are understood to be owned by the couple Mr. and Mrs. B.
The Jeonse deposits that the plaintiffs have not been able to recover from Mr. and Mrs. B since April last year amount to a total of 8.4 billion KRW, ranging from 40 million to 90 million KRW per household. The problem is that many of these households have reportedly gone into auction.
Lee Gye-sam, Director of the Urban Housing Office of Gyeonggi Province, said, "We saw the need to provide prompt assistance to Jeonse victims and therefore operated the on-site counseling center," adding, "Victims who could not visit the counseling center can receive consultations at the Gyeonggi Jeonse Damage Support Center located in the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government building (Paldal-gu, Suwon City)."
