Seongdong-gu Implements Comprehensive Measures in 7 Areas for a Safe and Warm Lunar New Year Holiday
Thorough Measures Prepared for Safety, Welfare, Cleaning, Traffic, and Prices Ahead of Seol Holiday
24-Hour Disaster Safety Response System Established, Safety Inspections Conducted at 579 Key Facilities Including Traditional Markets
Focused Welfare Checks for Vulnerable Groups and Price Stabilization Management Through Traditional Market Revitalization Events
Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Wono) announced that from February 7 to February 13, a thorough and meticulous 2024 Lunar New Year comprehensive plan will be implemented across seven major areas including medical care, safety, and welfare to ensure that residents can spend a safe and warm holiday during the traditional Korean Lunar New Year.
Ensuring a Safe Lunar New Year Without Gaps
This year’s Lunar New Year comprehensive plan in Seongdong-gu focuses on spending a safe holiday period. From mid-January until before the holiday, pre-safety inspections will be conducted on a total of 579 locations including multi-use facilities such as traditional markets, sports facilities, performance halls, as well as road facilities and steep slopes. In particular, risk factors in and around traditional markets will be monitored, and focused patrols for crime prevention will be carried out in mountainous parks and similar areas.
Additionally, a 24-hour disaster safety control center will be operated to establish a continuous disaster safety response system. Preparations will be thorough to ensure a safe holiday from various disasters by strengthening snow removal capabilities, including expanding road heating systems and snow removal equipment in anticipation of snowfall during the holiday period.
Promoting a Lunar New Year That Includes Marginalized Neighbors
To create a warm holiday where vulnerable groups are not left out and can be with their neighbors during the Lunar New Year, meals such as lunch boxes and side dishes will be provided to elderly living alone, children at risk of food insecurity, and people with disabilities. Before the holiday, a 'Pre-Care Service' and 'Check-in Days' before and after the holiday will be operated to regularly check the health status of vulnerable groups. In case of emergencies, an emergency response team will be deployed to strengthen care.
Promoting a Clean and Comfortable Lunar New Year
For a clean and comfortable holiday, autonomous neighborhood cleaning will be conducted by each district, along with focused cleaning of traditional markets and shopping streets, and joint cleaning of resident-priority parking lots. In addition, the dates when garbage can be disposed of will be actively communicated to minimize inconvenience to citizens. Parking enforcement around traditional markets and stations will be relaxed depending on traffic conditions.
Supporting Thrifty Consumption During Lunar New Year
This Lunar New Year, due to the burden of rapidly rising prices and a sluggish economy, difficulties continue for small business owners and residents. Therefore, projects to revitalize the local economy and reduce the burden of grocery prices will be promoted. Following the issuance of the Seongdong Love Gift Certificates for Lunar New Year on January 30, efforts will be made to stabilize prices through operating a special price countermeasure situation room, price tag inspections, and Lunar New Year traditional market revitalization events.
Additional detailed living information such as hospitals and pharmacies open during the holiday, frequently visited transportation and facility guides during the holiday period can be found on the Seongdong-gu Office website.
