"Beware of Norovirus" ... Changwon Special City Launches Food Poisoning Prevention Campaign
Changwon City in Gyeongnam Special City conducted a campaign on the 30th at Changwon Central Station and Masan Intercity Bus Terminal to promote food poisoning prevention guidelines in preparation for the Lunar New Year holiday, amid the winter norovirus outbreak.

View original imageThe campaign was a joint effort between the public and private sectors, with participation from Changwon and Masan Public Health Centers, the Korean Restaurant Association's Uichang-gu and Masan Member District branches, the Children's Meal Management Support Center, and Consumer Food Hygiene Inspectors. The focus was on providing guidance on norovirus food poisoning prevention methods, along with promoting the restaurant hygiene rating system and food culture improvement projects.
The main promotional points included ▲ the three key food poisoning prevention tips (hand washing, eating cooked food, eating boiled food) ▲ washing and disinfecting ingredients with clean water ▲ excluding individuals with symptoms such as vomiting from food preparation as norovirus food poisoning prevention rules ▲ practicing food culture improvements such as serving food individually and reducing sodium intake ▲ and informing citizens about the restaurant hygiene rating certification system.
Changwon City plans to organize an emergency response team to operate during the Lunar New Year holiday to promptly respond to any food poisoning incidents and prevent further spread.
