Simm Min, Imsil County Governor, Leads Promotion of Local Agricultural Specialties in Seoul
Sim Min, the governor of Imsil County in Jeonbuk, is taking the lead in promoting local agricultural specialties such as cheese to consumers in Seoul ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The county announced on the 26th that starting from the 25th in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, a sister city, it will open and operate direct transaction markets for agricultural specialties in three Seoul districts including Mapo-gu and Yangcheon-gu until the 2nd of next month.

Local agricultural specialties include over 110 items such as Imsil N Cheese, yogurt, various processed cheeses and dairy products, Korean beef, traditional Korean sweets (Hangwa), wild greens, freshwater snails, mushrooms, and grain syrup (Jocheong).
These products are sold at prices up to 20% lower than market prices, gaining great popularity.
Following the direct transaction market held last September, 15 companies from Imsil County, including the Imsil N Cheese Cluster and the Livestock Cooperative, are participating in the New Year Lunar New Year direct transaction market.
At the direct transaction market held on the 25th at the entrance plaza of Magoknaru Station in Gangseo-gu, Governor Sim Min actively promoted and sold local agricultural specialties to raise awareness of Imsil County, which has been designated as Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, and encouraged the officials involved.
Governor Sim also met with Jin Gyo-hoon, the Gangseo-gu mayor from Jeonbuk who was elected in the October by-election last year, to discuss mutual development in various fields between the two regions and seek active cooperation.
Governor Sim said to Mayor Jin, “As sister cities, let us actively promote agricultural specialties as well as tourism and cultural exchanges, and join forces for the development of both regions. I hope to expand tourism exchanges such as Okjeongho Suspension Bridge, Bungeo Island, and the Cheese Theme Park.”
In response, Mayor Jin said, “Imsil is nationally renowned for its cheese, and I have visited the Cheese Theme Park, which was very well done. As sister cities, we will work together to grow and develop.”
At the direct transaction market that day, a subscription event for Imsil N TV, a YouTube channel operated by the county office, was also held.
The event, which provided small amounts of Imsil N Cheese to subscribers for promotion, attracted not only residents but also many young office workers and students, receiving considerable positive response and creating a synergy effect leading to cheese purchases.
The direct transaction market events in major cities by Imsil County have recently helped increase farmers’ income amid difficulties caused by abnormal weather and rising prices, and have greatly contributed to enhancing the image of Imsil County’s agricultural specialties.
Governor Sim Min said, “In celebration of the nation’s traditional holiday, Lunar New Year, we have prepared a variety of excellent agricultural specialties from clean Imsil at affordable prices. I hope this event will be a good opportunity for urban consumers and rural producers to coexist and prosper.”
