Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will launch the "2024 Resident Informatization Education" starting February 5 to enhance residents' information utilization skills and bridge the digital divide.
The "Resident Informatization Education" offers customized computer and smartphone courses tailored to various educational needs of residents. The regular courses for all residents cover topics from basic to advanced levels, including ▲Internet ▲Smartphones ▲Excel, PPT, Hangul ▲Kiosk ▲Photo Editing ▲Video Production, allowing learners to develop skills according to their individual capabilities.
Additionally, there are courses such as one-person media creator for youth, critical thinking boosting Entry coding, metaverse, and ITQ certification classes for job seekers and office workers.
The district plans to continue providing diverse courses at different levels this year, as it did last year, to ensure no resident is left behind in the informatization society. One senior who completed last year’s course said, "Through the Internet class, I learned things I didn’t know before and applying them in daily life makes the world look different," sharing their positive experience.
The informatization education centers are located at three sites: ▲Yongdu 1 Education Center (62 Hanbit-ro, 1st floor) ▲Jeonnong Education Center (6 Dapsimni-ro 26-gil, 2nd floor) ▲Jangan Education Center (113 Janghan-ro 26ga-gil, 3rd floor). The Yongdu 1 Education Center is equipped with educational kiosks to teach kiosk usage in all courses.
This year, students will be recruited around the 25th to 28th of each month. Residents wishing to enroll in February courses should apply by the 29th via the Dongdaemun-gu reservation portal or the Resident Informatization Education call center.
Participants will be selected by lottery the day after the final application date. Tuition is free, but students must cover the cost of textbooks.
Details such as education locations and schedules can be found in the informatization education section of the Dongdaemun-gu reservation portal.
