British Gas, which has been supplying gas and electric energy to UK households for over 200 years, focuses not only on energy supply but also on improving the energy efficiency of each home to reduce carbon emissions, aiming to help the UK achieve 'Net Zero' by 2050. British Gas's 'Peak Save' is a program that provides incentives to households that voluntarily reduce electricity usage during peak consumption hours in winter.
Samsung Electronics' SmartThings Energy offers solutions that automatically save energy without user intervention, such as switching home appliances to 'AI saving mode,' turning off power to appliances, lighting, and smart plugs, and adjusting indoor temperature with heat pump EHS or partner thermostats.
Since 2023, Samsung Electronics has been participating in the resident demand response service (resident DR) project in cooperation with Korea Electric Power Corporation, Seoul City, and Naju City. It is also piloting DR services in California and New York in the United States and is working to expand this business worldwide.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is accelerating the expansion of the energy ecosystem centered on SmartThings by supplying net zero home solutions to smart cities such as Brobyholm in Sweden and Southern Company's 'Mississippi Project.' It is also collaborating with leading net zero home partners such as Germany's solar technology, storage, and charging company 'SMA Solar Technology' and Switzerland's automation solutions specialist 'ABB.' Earlier this year at CES 2024, Samsung announced a collaboration with Tesla as well.
