Gyeonggi-do Independent Support Agency Renamed to 'Huimangneoul'... Functions and Scale Expanded
Gyeonggi Province has changed the name of the ‘Gyeonggi-do Independent Support Dedicated Institution’ operated to help youth preparing for independence settle stably in society to ‘Gyeonggi-do Independent Support Dedicated Institution Hope Neoul’ and has also expanded its functions and scale.
The Gyeonggi-do Independent Support Dedicated Institution ‘Hope Neoul’ is located in Uiwang City and is a social welfare facility that supports strengthening the independence capabilities of youth preparing for independence and their stable social settlement.
Youth preparing for independence (children aging out of care) are young people who have lived in child care facilities, group homes, foster care, etc., and become independent after turning 18.
Gyeonggi Province changed the name to create a softer image and enhance the positive perception of youth preparing for independence, and plans to use Hope Neoul as the representative institution name by replacing the name of the Gyeonggi-do Independent Support Dedicated Institution in the future.
The Hope Neoul logo symbolizes the connection between people meeting each other and represents the subjectivity of youth preparing for independence through a wave-like shape. ‘Neoul’ is a pure Korean word meaning wave, symbolizing the hopeful future of youth preparing for independence filled with hope.
The institution’s functions and scale have also been expanded. First, the Hope Didimdol Centers (Hwaseong and Goyang), which are residential support spaces for youth preparing for independence previously operated by the Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation, and the mentor-mentee Together Standing project and mental health counseling support project, which were individual private consignment projects, have been integrated into the institution’s projects. The Hope Didimdol Centers are residential spaces (independent living centers) designed to provide quick and smooth close support for housing and case management services for youth preparing for independence.
