Gwangju Seo-gu Strengthens Care Expertise by Operating 'Senior Care Manager' Program
Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 23rd that it will operate a ‘Senior Care Manager’ training course to strengthen the caregiving expertise of job participants involved in elderly care projects after retirement.

This training course will be conducted until the 26th for about 50 participants engaged in elderly care jobs.
▲ Elderly counseling and interaction ▲ Management of senile dementia ▲ Rehabilitation exercises for improving self-function ▲ Usage of smartphones and kiosks, mainly to enhance understanding of elderly diseases, and education on community elderly care related topics such as elderly care case management.
In particular, the trainees are elderly job participants who conduct home visits for recipients of home services and integrated care, such as ‘Piryohayo Maldongmu’ and ‘Safe Seo-gu Senior Protection Group.’ Before starting the project, they will receive expert training on performing the role of senior care managers to increase their understanding of the elderly and engage in elderly care activities with professionalism as care managers.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “As the elderly population increases, we will create a warm caregiving Seo-gu where seniors can live comfortably through the education of caregiving personnel.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Senior Care Manager’ training course is part of the Higher Vocational Education Hub District (HIVE) project for nurturing local talent through cooperation between local governments and specialized colleges. Following last year, Seo-gu and Gwangju Health University have formed a consortium to jointly promote the program this year as well.
