Third Zone Integration Presents 'Political Reform' as First Task
"Must Break the Imperial Presidential System and Party Leader System"
Reform New Party, Saemirae, Miraeyeon... Conduct Vision Dialogue
The 'Future Grand Alliance,' led by lawmakers Lee Won-wook, Kim Jong-min, and Cho Eung-cheon, who left the Democratic Party of Korea, has presented 'political reform' as the principle for unifying third-zone new party forces. Specifically, they set the task of dismantling the imperial presidential system and the party leader system.
Kim Jong-min, co-chairman of the Future Grand Alliance's founding committee, held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office on the 22nd and stated, "The public demands that third-zone parties unite," adding, "The people's order and the mission of the new party forces is to unite, end the extreme hatred politics, and create a new Republic of Korea." He continued, "For a unified party, there must be consensus on major issues such as the party's vision, operation, and candidate nomination," and proposed, "We suggest our opinions on this, and once consensus is reached, let's proceed with practical unification."

The Future Grand Alliance's founding committee first set the new party's top priority as 'political reform.' To overcome the three major crises facing the Republic of Korea?'livelihood crisis,' 'future crisis,' and 'democracy crisis'?political reform to break the entrenched two-party vested interest politics obsessed with power struggles is the most urgent task.
As tasks to achieve political reform, they proposed ▲amending the Political Parties Act to enable election system reform and the establishment of regional parties ▲dismantling the imperial presidential system and reforming it into a democratic presidential system ▲dismantling the imperial party leader system and reforming into a democratic party. The founding committee explained, "The ultimate goal of the new party is to change the world," adding, "To this end, the National Assembly and the President should jointly establish a 'National Future Committee' and create a national consensus plan to overcome five major crises: polarization crisis, population crisis, climate crisis, global crisis, and democracy crisis."
In terms of party operation, they presented the aspirations of a 'democratic party' and a 'policy party.' Furthermore, they stipulated that the party should be operated by abolishing the imperial party leader system and following the principles of democracy such as decentralization, cooperation, checks and balances. Along with this, the party's highest decision-making body will be the 'National Delegate Conference,' and delegates will be elected from party members who meet certain criteria of party activities such as paying party dues, participating in discussions, and education.
In particular, provisions were made to prevent so-called 'political hooligans' from influencing party operations and to activate democratic participation of party members through discussions and education. This is interpreted as a measure considering the related harms, as the party had been subjected to extreme attacks by the Democratic Party's hardline supporters known as 'Gaeddal.'
Additionally, party affairs will be decided by the Central Steering Committee, but decision-making will be by consensus. Contents also include implementing a responsibility operation system by organization and institution such as each executive headquarters and city/provincial party committees, introducing a youth political activation system, and allowing the possibility of adopting recommended party positions under the principle of free voting by lawmakers in National Assembly decisions. Candidate nomination issues will be based on fair democratic competition, with the nomination management committee performing its duties independently. For proportional representation, there is a plan to decide through a public audition method and discussions among experts and citizens.
