[Tomorrow's Weather] 'Daehan' but Warmer Than Usual... Snow and Rain Across the Country
On the 20th, Daehan (大寒), which marks the period of severe cold according to the solar calendar, temperatures will be warmer than usual, making it mild.
Saturday morning's low temperatures are forecasted to be between -1 and 8 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs ranging from 4 to 10 degrees Celsius.
The entire country will be mostly cloudy, with rain or snow expected in Gangwon Yeongdong, the northeastern mountains of Gyeongbuk, and the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk. Rain is also expected in the Jeonnam region and Jeju Island.
Starting in the morning, rain or snow will begin in the Chungnam region, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongsang region, expanding in the afternoon to southern Gyeonggi and Chungbuk, with occasional rain or snow in most parts of the country at night.
In Seoul, Incheon, and northern Gyeonggi, light raindrops less than 0.1 mm or snow less than 0.1 cm may fall at night.
Especially in the central and northern mountainous areas of Gangwon, where a heavy snow warning has been issued, heavy and very heavy snowfall is expected, mainly in the Gangwon mountains.
From the 19th to the 21st, due to the easterly winds, 10 to 30 cm of snow (with more than 40 cm in some central and northern areas) will fall in the Gangwon mountains; 3 to 8 cm (more than 10 cm in some areas) on the northern Gangwon east coast; 1 to 5 cm on the central and southern Gangwon east coast; 5 to 10 cm (up to 15 cm in some areas) in the northeastern mountains of Gyeongbuk; and 1 to 3 cm on the northern Gyeongbuk east coast (on the 20th and 21st). Rainfall of 10 to 50 mm is expected on the Gangwon east coast and mountains, and 5 to 30 mm of rain in the northeastern mountains and east coast of Gyeongbuk.
Snowfall expected from the 20th to the 21st due to the low-pressure trough is less than 1 cm in southeastern Gyeonggi and the West Sea coast; 1 to 5 cm in inland Gangwon; around 1 cm in Chungbuk, northeastern inland Jeonbuk, and eastern inland Jeonnam (near Jirisan); and 1 to 3 cm in northern and western inland Gyeongbuk, western inland Gyeongnam (near Jirisan), and mountainous areas of Jeju Island.
During the same period, expected precipitation amounts are around 1 mm in southern Gyeonggi and the five West Sea islands; less than 5 mm in inland Gangwon; 5 to 10 mm in southern Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, inland Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and Ulleungdo and Dokdo; around 5 mm in Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and central to northern Chungbuk; and 5 to 20 mm in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam.
From the 19th, Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Jeju Island will receive 5 to 20 mm and 30 to 80 mm (with more than 100 mm in mountainous areas) of rain, respectively.
Where rain or snow freezes, roads will be slippery due to ice and black ice, so caution is advised for traffic safety.
Fine dust levels will be 'good' nationwide.
Sea waves will be 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the East Sea nearshore, 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the West Sea nearshore, and 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the South Sea nearshore.

Wave heights in the offshore seas (about 200 km from the coastline) are expected to be 1.5 to 4.0 meters in the East Sea, 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the West Sea, and 2.0 to 4.5 meters in the South Sea.
