Hwasun Election Commission Implements 'One-Side Parking System' on Roundabout-Manyeon Bridge Section
Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 18th that a one-sided parking system will be implemented on a 620m section from the Hwasun-eup Election Commission roundabout to Manyeon Bridge, a traffic congestion area in the urban area.
The one-sided parking system allows parking only on one side of the road to help improve traffic flow.
Construction began on September 23, 2022, for the ‘Hwasun-eup Traffic Congestion Area One-Sided Parking Project,’ but was halted due to opposition complaints from local businesses. Subsequently, three rounds of resident meetings were held to reach a consensus, and a pilot operation was conducted for three months from October to December last year.
Following the pilot operation results and surveys of nearby businesses and residents, a residents’ briefing session was held on December 26, and the final implementation plan was decided, with enforcement starting on the 15th.
Parking is allowed for up to 6 hours in designated areas, and a 20-minute grace period is provided in enforcement zones. Enforcement is suspended during lunchtime (11:40 AM to 1:20 PM).
Additionally, operating hours are from 8 AM to 8 PM on weekdays, and the parking-allowed zones change weekly based on midnight Sunday as the reference point.
