Korea Federation of SMEs Holds '2024 Chungcheong Region Small Business New Year's Gathering'
The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (Kbiz) announced on the 16th that it held the '2024 Chungcheong Region Small and Medium Business New Year's Meeting.'
The New Year's meeting, held at the Marcia Hall of Merida Wedding Convention in Cheongju, was attended by about 350 key figures from various sectors in the Chungcheong region, including local governments, the National Assembly, and the small and medium business community.

It is an occasion where key figures from the government, National Assembly, and the small and medium business sector gather to reaffirm their resolutions for the new year. This year, the event started with the Chungcheong region on this day, followed by Honam region (23rd), Yeongnam region (25th), and Gyeonggi region (30th).
The event was attended by Kim Young-hwan, Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do; Jeon Hyung-sik, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs of Chungcheongnam-do; Jang Ho-jong, Deputy Mayor for Economy and Science of Daejeon Metropolitan City; and Kim Ha-gyun, Deputy Mayor for Administration of Sejong Special Self-Governing City. From the National Assembly, Jeong Woo-taek, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly (People Power Party, Cheongju Sangdang), Park Deok-heum (People Power Party, Boeun, Okcheon, Yeongdong, Goesan), and Lee Jang-seop (Democratic Party, Cheongju Seowon) attended.
In his New Year's address, Kim Ki-moon, Chairman of Kbiz, said, “Over the past year, our entrepreneurs have passed through the long tunnel of COVID-19, but the global economy has not escaped recession, causing many difficulties.” However, he added, “The government has implemented economic policies desired by the field, such as regulatory innovation and export support. The delivery payment linkage system, which small and medium businesses have long wished for, already has over 10,000 participating companies, and the corporate succession policy was recently finalized, giving entrepreneurs the strength to leap forward again.”

He continued, “Last year, the 'Central Inland Support Special Act' passed the National Assembly, creating an opportunity for 760,000 small and medium businesses in the Chungcheong region to establish themselves as the center of our economy,” and urged, “Let politics support the economy, and entrepreneurs, together with future generations, strive so that South Korea can take a leap forward in a broader economic territory.”
