Sejong City Provides 17.1 Billion KRW Support for Eco-Friendly Agricultural Sector
Promotion of 25 Eco-Friendly Agricultural Projects This Year
Extra Points for Youth, Women Farmers, and Returnees
Applications Open for Local Resident Farmers Meeting Criteria
On the 12th, Sejong City announced that it will invest 17.1 billion KRW in 25 eco-friendly agricultural projects this year.
The support funds will be allocated to ▲safe agricultural product production (700 million KRW) ▲agricultural materials such as seedbed soil and drone pest control (2.6 billion KRW) ▲income security for farmers through the public payment system (13 billion KRW) ▲strategic crop direct payment system (270 million KRW) ▲farmers' safety accident insurance (300 million KRW) ▲agricultural machinery support (230 million KRW), among others.
The incentive limit for farms cultivating Samgwang rice certified under the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for agricultural products will be raised from 2ha (360 bags) to 3ha (480 bags) this year. Since the region’s representative rice, ‘Singsing Sejong Rice,’ is cultivated using the Samgwang rice variety, the strategy is to encourage cultivation by increasing the incentive payment limit.
The evaluation criteria for the agricultural machinery support project have been enhanced by reflecting participation in agricultural policies such as GAP certification, eco-friendly certification, and enrollment in the three major insurances (agricultural machinery, safety accident, agricultural accident) to increase selection reliability.
Additional points will be awarded to young farmers, women farmers, and returnees to farming. In particular, this year, new support will be provided for farming work platforms and rechargeable transport carts to improve the convenience of women farmers.
The direct payment for small-scale farmers will be 1.3 million KRW, an increase of 100,000 KRW from last year.
Applications for agricultural subsidy projects are possible for farmers who reside in Sejong and meet the application criteria for each project.
