President's Favorite Grade 6 'ChungTV'... "Other Officials Are in Big Trouble," Jokingly
Yoon Mentions Innovative Promotion Case at Cabinet Meeting
Kim Seontae Officer's Unique Promotion Direction as Strength
President Yoon Suk-yeol expressed his commitment to communication with the public and policy promotion, introducing Chungju City's official YouTube channel 'ChungTV,' which has become a hot topic. Meanwhile, Kim Seon-tae, the manager operating ChungTV, shared that he felt "dazed" by the president's mention.
On the 9th, regarding the promotion of new policies to be implemented this year, President Yoon said, "A young manager in charge of promoting Chungju City created a YouTube channel called 'ChungTV' and promoted policies in a fresh and entertaining way, resulting in subscribers exceeding twice the population of Chungju." He added, "This kind of innovation is necessary." At the Cabinet meeting, he encouraged policy promotion at the central government level by citing the example of a local government official.
In a phone interview with MBN on the 9th, Manager Kim said, "I am grateful that the president gave me such generous praise," showing his characteristic composure by adding, "(With the president's words) many public officials are now in big trouble."
He continued, "I am not in a position to talk about innovation, but it is important to break the mold differently from others," emphasizing that efforts to try new things should not be hesitated.
He further explained, "Promotion that matches the audience's level is important," and added, "It would be better to show what the public wants to see rather than only what local governments (or ministries) want to promote."
Manager Kim also said, "Although public interest has increased, I am just doing my job in my position," noting that there has been no change in the YouTube production environment.

President Yoon mentioned, "From this year, many new policies that directly help the people will be implemented," citing examples such as "raising parental allowance to 1 million won," "expanding Neulbom Schools," and "introducing K-Pass from May." He added, "However, no matter how good a policy is, if the people do not know about it well and cannot receive its benefits, it is as if the policy does not exist," and urged, "I hope you thoroughly consider from the people's perspective how, where, and what information should be delivered to ensure it reaches the public effectively."
The ChungTV mentioned by President Yoon has 556,000 subscribers, the largest among domestic local governments, surpassing Seoul City. This is the top record among YouTube channels operated by government agencies and public institutions. Manager Kim has also gained popularity through video production utilizing online platforms, including city promotion, and actively promotes Chungju by appearing on various broadcasts.
