Gondola Stopped for 30 Minutes at Pyeongchang Ski Resort... 64 Passengers Trapped
All Passengers Disembark After Measures Taken
At the Phoenix Park ski resort in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon, 64 visitors were trapped in a gondola cabin after the gondola stopped, but they were later rescued.
According to the Gangwon Fire Headquarters on the 7th, a report was received around 10:39 a.m. that "the Phoenix Park ski resort gondola has been stopped for 30 minutes."
It was reported that after a pushing incident occurred in one gondola cabin at the summit boarding station, the spacing between gondola cabins became misaligned, causing the entire gondola to stop and trapping the visitors inside the cabins.
The ski resort detached the cabin where the accident occurred and resumed operation around 10:53 a.m., allowing all 64 visitors to get off at the summit boarding station. No injuries were reported.
