'After Treatment, Fist Raised'... 60-Year-Old Breaks Paramedic's Nasal Bone by Hitting
A man in his 60s who assaulted a paramedic providing emergency treatment, breaking his nasal bone, was sentenced to prison.
On the 7th, Judge Jeong Hee-young of the Incheon District Court Criminal Division 9 announced that A (66), who was indicted for violating the Act on 119 Rescue and Emergency Medical Services, was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation period.
A was charged with punching paramedic B (39) in the face on June 16, 2021, on a street in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, causing injury.
B suffered a broken nasal bone from the assault and was diagnosed with a four-week recovery period by the hospital.
At the time of the crime, A was intoxicated and had fallen, injuring his face, after which he received emergency treatment. He testified that he committed the assault out of anger when B asked him to wear a mask.
The year 2021 was a time when the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was spreading, and most people were wearing masks.
