'Youth City' Gwanak-gu Launches New Youth Policy
‘5th Gwanak Youth Network New Members’ Recruitment Until the 15th
Open to Gwanak District Residents or Those Living in Gwanak Area Interested in Youth Issues
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is creating new youth policies and a future for Gwanak together with the ‘Gwanak Youth Network.’
Since its launch in 2020, the ‘Gwanak Youth Network,’ now in its 5th term, is a public-private governance cooperative body that reflects the voices of young people, the main stakeholders of youth policies, into district administration and expands youth policy participation.
Youth Network members belong to one of four divisions (▲Jobs ▲Culture & Arts ▲Social Participation ▲Life Stability) of their choice, where they engage in activities such as discovering and proposing agendas desired by youth, including youth rights promotion, capacity building, and policy improvement.
This year, the district is newly promoting projects such as ▲expanding weekend health checkups for single-person youth households and ▲supporting exhibitions by young artists. These projects were selected through a review process evaluating redundancy and feasibility among policies proposed last year by the four Youth Network divisions.
In April, the district plans to hold a youth policy public forum to discover youth policies that many can agree on, together with the Youth Network. From May to August, division meetings will be held where youth members can propose desired policies and the responsible departments will provide feedback through policy consulting.
Later, during Youth Week in September, networking events with Youth Network members, local youth organizations, and resident groups in the area will also be promoted.
The district is recruiting new members for the ‘Gwanak Youth Network’ until January 15.
Any youth aged 19 to 39 who are residents of Gwanak-gu or live within the Gwanak-gu living area and are interested in youth issues or wish to develop youth culture can apply.
Youth wishing to participate should prepare the application form and other required documents and submit them via email or fax to the Gwanak-gu Youth Policy Division.
Detailed information can be found in the recruitment announcement posted on the Gwanak-gu Office website (News & Notices → Announcements).
The district will select a final 18 members through a comprehensive review of voluntary participation and areas of interest and announce the results on the Gwanak-gu website in January.
