Speed race aiming to establish the party by mid-month
Party membership surpasses 20,000 immediately after website launch
Former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok's new party, which he is pushing to establish, has been narrowed down to three name candidates: 'The Better Tomorrow', 'The Better Future', and 'Reform New Party'.
According to a compilation of reports by Asia Economy on the 5th, the tentative Reform New Party led by Lee is expected to reveal its new party name after a vote among party members as early as the 10th. A key official from Lee's side said, "Among party members, these three candidates are being strongly discussed." The party color has not yet been decided.
So far, 'The Better Tomorrow' is known to have the highest support among party members. This was also the name Lee initially favored to pursue the value of a new party for the future. He has mentioned it publicly several times. In fact, on the 27th of last month, when he officially announced his departure from the People Power Party and the founding of the new party, he said, "South Korea should be a country where those who work hard have a 'better tomorrow' than today." The day before, on his Facebook, he announced surpassing 20,000 party members and described it as "a Reform New Party preparing for a better tomorrow than today."

One example is from March last year, before the publication of his book Unstoppable Future, when in January of the same year, at a conference speech for a media company, he mentioned the blockchain industry and emphasized, "Even if the existing vested interests build barriers, what matters is that an unstoppable future is approaching."
Another candidate for the party name is 'The Better Future'. It is explained that 'Future' better captures the core agenda of the new party than 'Tomorrow'. Lee mentioned 'future' 18 times during the founding press conference, giving identity to the new party. There is also an opinion to adopt the tentative name Reform New Party as the official party name. As the Reform New Party surpassed 24,000 members just one day after launching its website, its influence is growing, and among the newly joined members, there is increasing support for making this the official party name.
