They pledged to unite with one heart and one mind to activate parents' participation in school activities and strengthen communication, creating a year full of clear and positive news. They shared last year's parents' association activities and discussed the establishment of the parents' association council regulations and current projects for this year.
The Office of Education has formed the Parents' Association Council and is actively reflecting parents' opinions in educational policies in accordance with the "Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of the Participating Parents' Association Council of the Jeollabuk-do Office of Education," which was primarily proposed by Jeonbuk Provincial Assembly member Han Jeong-su.
The "Jeonbuk Parents' Association Council" was formed as a promise of Superintendent Seo Geo-seok, recognizing that the role of parents is paramount in the development of Jeonbuk education. It connects unit school parents' associations, which are autonomous councils of parents, by city and county, forming an integrated network across Jeonbuk Province.
Since its first year of operation last year, it has achieved meaningful management and results in a short period. A notable example is the "Jeonbuk Parents' Festival" held last December, centered around members of the 14 city and county councils.
Despite a small budget, the event was successfully held with presentations of parents' association activities from various schools and regions, as well as diverse experiences and food provided by parents, attracting about 3,000 visitors.
Jeong Yumi, President of the Jeonbuk Parents' Association Council, stated, "In the new year, we will strengthen cooperation and communication among parents in the region and fulfill our role as a focal point for harmony and communication within the educational community. We will create various communication platforms to share opinions on the development of Jeonbuk education between schools and parents and listen to voices from the field."
