The issue escalated as some viewers left comments evaluating the customers' body shapes and appearances.
Mr. Seonmo, who captured and reported the broadcast, stated, "Visitors were walking around in bikinis, and it was shown on camera as is. They were evaluating other people's appearances and bodies," adding, "This is illegal and an invasion of privacy."
Seonmo also raised suspicions that the hot spring might have conducted the broadcast for promotional purposes, noting that a link to purchase hot spring admission tickets was attached to the broadcast. He criticized, "Shouldn't consumers' privacy be protected? Would others want to come if this continues?"
The released capture images showed about 30 people watching the broadcast. The footage included not only people enjoying the hot spring but also individuals walking by in swimwear. Most people appeared unaware of the live broadcast's existence. The channel was reportedly themed around introducing famous tourist spots nationwide.
A hot spring official responded to the controversy, saying, "The location was a public area with an outdoor swimming pool, and guests could personally use their phones to film various spots," adding, "Staff did not have the authority to block guests' access." They also stated that while revenue could be generated through link connections, the broadcaster was not officially hired.
However, as the controversy grew, the official added, "We reported this situation to the higher cultural tourism authorities and will take follow-up measures, including posting slogans advising guests not to film others." The platform that hosted the broadcast also announced that it issued a warning to the broadcaster.
