The Era of Drone and Robot Delivery Arrives...Related Law Amendment Passed in the Plenary Session
In the future, drone and robot delivery services are expected to become possible in South Korea as well.
According to government officials on the 20th, the amendment to the Act on the Development of the Living Logistics Service Industry, which includes these provisions, passed the National Assembly plenary session on the same day. The main point is to add drones and robots as means of transportation for courier service businesses and delivery services (small parcel delivery agency services).
Currently, only freight trucks and two-wheeled motorcycles are allowed as delivery vehicles.
The amendment also includes provisions that people with a history of sex crimes or violent crimes cannot work in the delivery industry, and that business locations must obtain consent from delivery agents when signing transportation consignment contracts or employment contracts to check their criminal records.
