Changwon Special City Successfully Hosts Changwon City Volunteer Conference
On the 20th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the 2023 Changwon Volunteer Conference at the Convention Hall of Changwon Convention Center, with about 300 members of the Changwon Volunteer Organizations Council participating to commemorate Volunteer Day.
Held to celebrate Volunteer Day (December 5) and to encourage the dedication of volunteers who have devoted themselves throughout the year in various parts of the local community, the event was attended by Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Kim I-geun, Chairman of the Changwon Special City Council, as well as provincial and city council members.
The first part of the ceremony included a video report on volunteer activities, an awards ceremony for outstanding volunteers, and congratulatory performances, followed by the second part featuring a volunteer unity festival, providing a meaningful conclusion to the year.
At the awards ceremony, Jeong Seon-rye from the Changwon Volunteer Organizations Council, recognized for her contributions to the activation of volunteer activities in the city, received the ‘2023 Changwon Volunteer King’ plaque. In addition, a total of 87 people, including excellent volunteers, outstanding organizations, companies, and meritorious public officials, were awarded plaques and certificates of commendation.
Jeon Tae-wan, President of the Changwon Volunteer Organizations Council, said in his address, “I would like to thank the members of the Volunteer Organizations Council who have quietly practiced love for their neighbors throughout this year. Let us continue to strive to create a beautiful society through volunteering.”

Mayor Hong Nam-pyo expressed, “I deeply thank all the volunteers who have practiced sharing with their neighbors throughout the year. Changwon Special City has developed into a leading city for volunteering thanks to the dedication and efforts of 310,000 volunteers.
