Attends '2023 Asia AI Awards' and Announces
"We plan to hold an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Safety Summit in May next year to lead the establishment of global norms for the safe use of AI." Hong Jin-bae, Director of the Network Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated that various policies are being promoted to secure South Korea's leadership in the fiercely competitive global AI market.
At the '2023 Asia AI Awards' ceremony held on the 20th at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, Hong said, "This year is the year of generative AI," adding, "The government is also pursuing policies to strengthen South Korea's competitiveness in large-scale generative AI."

View original imageThe Ministry of Science and ICT announced South Korea's digital strategy last September and subsequently prepared strategies in January and April this year to advance and enhance competitiveness in the large-scale AI industry. In September, it also announced the 'AI Normalization Strategy' to spread the value of AI across the entire population and unite public and private sector capabilities. Recognizing that sustainable development of the AI industry is possible only with securing AI reliability and ethics, the ministry prepared the 'Digital Bill of Rights,' a digital order embodying the value of safe AI use, and promoted it worldwide.
