Since joining as the head of the legal support team at the request of then-presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung in 2021, I have witnessed every moment the incompetence of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and the selective justice of investigative agencies and the judiciary."
He continued, "I was angered by the Yoon Seok-yeol government that undermines fairness and common sense, and this is why I am taking on the new challenge of politics."
He also made three promises. First, he explained the completion of reform in investigative agencies and the judiciary. The plan is to improve conventional investigative practices to protect the rights of the people, ensure investigative power is not neutralized before the powerful, and establish a foundation so that judicial rulings do not create legal principles detached from public common sense for the benefit of the powerful.
The second promise is to lay the groundwork for the Democratic Party’s reestablishment of power.
Candidate Yang said, "To stop the reckless actions of the Yoon Seok-yeol government and to overcome the crisis and normalize the Republic of Korea, we must lay the foundation with an overwhelming victory in the general election," adding, "Gwangju must be the center of change for this crucial election victory more than ever." To this end, he announced that change and innovation will begin from Seo-gu, Gwangju.
The third promise was to dedicate his experience and passion to the greater development of Gwangju.
He asserted, "Gwangju is the holy land of democracy in the Republic of Korea and the heart of the Democratic Party, but today’s Gwangju is politically isolated and economically underdeveloped," and added, "I will stand at the forefront of the grand journey toward a new and greater Gwangju."
