Green Umbrella Gwangju, Seminar on Exploring Support Measures for Basic Child Life Security
The Green Umbrella Gwangju Regional Headquarters announced on the 20th that it held a seminar at the Mudeung Hall of Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall to explore support measures for the basic living security of children.
The seminar was conducted to share the living conditions of low-income families with children in the region and to provide a platform for raising awareness among duty bearers and sharing opinions to ensure the basic rights of children are protected.
About two hours of serious presentations and discussions took place with the attendance of City Council member Lee Myung-no, Director Lim Ae-sun of the City Child and Youth Division, case managers from district offices, educational welfare officers, private welfare organization officials, and students from Honam University.
Professor Jwa Hyun-sook of Honam University, along with Professor Jeong Jeong-ho of Cheongwoon University and Professor Lim Se-hee of Seoul Cyber University, presented the research results titled "Exploring Support Measures for Basic Living Security of Children in Gwangju Metropolitan City: An Analysis of Living Conditions Focusing on Children Supported by the Green Umbrella Basic Living Support Project."
The research team emphasized strengthening support for low-income families with children, diversifying the basic living support projects, and increasing operational flexibility, while also calling for local governments to secure budgets and coordinate integrated services for children and households.
Lee Jeong-jun, an officer from the Integrated Care Division of Gwangsan District Office, presented the limitations of public services for children and stressed the need for support that fits the current context and is free from stigma.
