Goheung-gun Awarded 'Excellence Prize' in Jeonnam Province Rural Development Project Comprehensive Evaluation

Recognition of Rural Development Project Achievements, Excellent Institution for 3 Consecutive Years

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it received the Excellence Award at the ‘2023 Jeollanam-do Rural Development Project Comprehensive Evaluation’ held at the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services on the 19th, receiving a plaque, a prize money of 3 million won, and a project fund of 10 million won.

The comprehensive evaluation of rural development projects is a system that annually evaluates 15 indicators across three areas: government joint evaluation, Rural Development Administration evaluation, and departmental implementation evaluation for rural development projects in 21 cities and counties within the province.

Gohung-gun received excellent evaluations in government joint evaluation categories such as quarantine pest monitoring and control performance, agricultural disaster and farmer safety response performance, and customized future strategic regional specialized crop cultivation performance.

Following its selection as an excellent city/county in the regional agricultural specialization field in 2021 and in the farm management improvement field in 2022, it achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years.

Additionally, on the 7th, Park Chang-hee, an instructor at the Gohung Agricultural Technology Center, won the Grand Prize at the 2023 Korea Agricultural Technology Dissemination Awards hosted by the Rural Development Administration. Furthermore, five affiliated instructors received commendations from the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Administrator of the Rural Development Administration, and the Governor of Jeollanam-do for their achievements in various fields, widely recognizing the success of the guidance projects.

Park Jung-woon, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “This result was achieved through the cooperation of all farmers and staff,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to develop niche promising income crops, increase farm income, and foster young entrepreneurial farmers to realize the high value-added agriculture, forestry, and livestock industry, which is the goal of the 8th civilian administration.”
