Sinan-gun Anticipates Early Realization of 5 Million Tourist Era
Chupodo Food Tourism Theme Attraction Passes Ministry of the Interior and Safety Investment Review
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) has passed the central investment review for the Chupodo Food Tourism Theme Attraction project, which had previously faced setbacks.
According to the county on the 19th, this project, with a total investment of 42 billion KRW, is being promoted as part of the Southern Regional Tourism Development project, one of the 120 national tasks of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.

This is the largest tourism project ever undertaken by Shinan-gun, and it plans to transform the Amtai Chupodo area into a theme park centered on island cuisine by 2027.
The core project, the Food Culture Complex Center (with a total floor area of 6,970㎡), is fully equipped with facilities for food culture research, education, and experience, including an information center, research institute, studio, and seminar rooms. It also plans to include 36 lodging rooms to accommodate staying tourists.
Additionally, auxiliary facilities for visitor convenience such as specialty product stores, restaurants, a food beach night market, a dining park, and walking trails will be installed.
Shinan-gun intends to present the blueprint through a design competition early next year and aims to start construction by 2025 at the latest.
Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “Chupodo is located at the center of Shinan, stretching 150 km east to west and 100 km north to south,” adding, “This will be an opportunity to leap forward as a world-renowned island of taste through the resource development of island food culture that Shinan-gun possesses.”

Meanwhile, if the K-Tourism island projects for Heuksando and Chupodo food theme resource development proceed as planned, it is expected to bring a new turning point for economic revitalization in the southwestern region of Jeollanam-do.
