Professor Heo Gwang-seon of Gyeongnam Information University Appointed President of the Korean Clean Technology Society
Professor Heo Gwang-seon of the Department of Chemical and Energy Engineering at Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology (President Kim Dae-sik) has been inaugurated as the 22nd president of the Korean Society of Clean Technology. His term will last for one year starting in 2024.
The Korean Society of Clean Technology is a professional society composed of researchers from universities, government-funded research institutes, and industries who study clean technology. Professor Heo is the first professor from a junior college to serve as the society’s president.
President Heo earned his master's and doctoral degrees from Pusan National University and has served as the society’s senior vice president, auditor, vice president, director of public relations, and director of business.
He also served as vice president of the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers and currently leads the Energy New Industry Project Group under the Digital New Technology Innovation Convergence University, organized by the Ministry of Education.
Clean technology refers to production technologies that prevent or minimize the generation of pollutants during the manufacturing process, thereby minimizing environmental impact throughout all stages of a product’s lifecycle?from production and use to disposal?while maximizing the efficiency of resources and energy.

President Heo stated, “The society researches clean energy, clean environment, and clean technology not only academically but also from a practical perspective, in line with the carbon-neutral era. I will do my best to promote academic activities in accordance with the members’ wishes and help the society make a leap forward in 2025, its 30th anniversary.”
