Kim Kyun-ho, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Enacts 'Personal Information Protection Ordinance'
Kim Kyun-ho, a member of the Seo-gu District Council in Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 4th that he has enacted the "Personal Information Protection Ordinance" proposed during the 2nd regular session of the 317th meeting.
The ordinance includes provisions for protecting residents' personal information, such as ▲principles of personal information protection and measures to ensure safety ▲management of personal information files and response to leaks ▲establishment and operation of personal information impact assessment and review committees ▲designation of responsible persons and related education.
Councilman Kim emphasized, "Local governments are the representative institutions that collect and process residents' personal information" and "they must establish a system that legally collects only the minimum necessary personal information under a clear purpose and manages it safely with a high level of responsibility for personal information protection."
He added, "Through the enactment of this ordinance, I hope Seo-gu will become an advanced administrative system that takes the lead in protecting the freedom and rights of its residents."
